Darlingtonia Californica cobra lily care guide

The cobra lily is found near mountain streams in northern Carolina Oregon in the USA

Given the right conditions this plant is vigorous & hardy.

The plant should be grown in a shady area out the way of direct sunlight s the plants roots don’t get to warm which will kill the plant and it should be grown in a light and airy soil mix 50/50 perlite 7 sphagnum moss.

These plants can be grown outside all year round as they are frost hardy and can be grown in a bog garden or container and make interesting plant with its large pitchers resembling the raised striking hood of a cobra.

The plant should be watered from above with a watering can with a rose with rain or distilled water

This helps keep the roots cool in the summer.

During the winter months reduce watering and remove dead growth as it dies back to help reduce risk of fungal infections and spray with a systemic insecticide in spring to help prevent aphid damage.
